Over the last couple of weeks, I have been drawn to videos and articles discussing various techniques on dog training. Each time I've read an interesting training tip, I've had the sudden urge to try these ideas out on my 'Rosie,' realising I didn't have any tiny treats to train her with. So I decided to create a training treat recipe.
These are baked treats, however, they don't have to be. Depending on where you choose to train your dog will determine if you do or don't bake these treats. On a hot summer's day, if left raw, they will most likely crumble in your pocket.
Tiny Training Treats for your Divine Dog
2 tablespoons organic extra virgin coconut oil, soften
2 tablespoons organic flaxseed, ground
1 tablespoon pasture-fed gelatin powder
2 tablespoons organic sunflower seeds, ground
5 tablespoons organic coconut flour
1 organic free-range egg
Preheat the oven to 160℃ (320℉).
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients, ensuring the coconut oil has dispersed evenly through the mixture. Roll the dough into a ball and stand at room temperature for 10 minutes.
Place the ball of dough onto a piece of baking paper. Using a rolling pin and your hands, roll the dough into a circle shape that is 13cm (5”) in diameter and 1cm (½”) thick.
Cut out treats using a tiny cookie cutter and place on a lined oven tray. Place in the oven.
If you choose to keep them raw, place them in a sealed container and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. And yes, raw eggs are good for your dog as your dog can absorb the nutrients more easily. .
Remove treats from the oven. Allow to cool and store at room temperature in a sealed container.
Look at that focus! I had to wipe her down several times to remove the drool.
